Join us on our next project

We are looking for artists, designers, painters and volunteers to work with Empty Space CIC on our projects.

We aim to improve the appearance of vacant shops and other properties, which detract from the vibrancy of the town centre.

The project will use shop windows and other underused locations to display temporary works, commissioned from local artists and referencing local history, landscape and culture. It is anticipated that works would be kept in place for up to 12 months), with the expectation that they would be renewed or replaced after that time if the location is still vacant. This approach supports and is aligned with wider work by the town and county councils to reduce vacant shops in Monmouth town centre.

2024/2025 Projects

Swan Court

In 2024 we were given permission to paint a wall at Swan Court in Monmouth.  The design was created to take into account the pharmacy shop wall we are painting on.   A design was created and then upscaled, by Gill Nicholas, to fit the space.  In February 2025 we were able to start this project.  More pictures will follow shortly.
